| 2002 - 2003 This was a semi-basement space which had been abandoned, a feature which acted as the springboard for its transformation. The wish for a predetermined use and delimited cost served to disrupt its oppressive image, the poor layout, and the limitations imposed by its installations. An object of the new use was that it should be a place of work also providing living accommodation. Thus the concern of the design centred on creating suitable conditions for the space to function in a multiplicity of ways, in spite of its limited size. A nodal point of the new layout was the WC - bathroom. Their relative place in the space succeeded in apportioning the two areas in terms of function and space: one more public and the other more private, without interrupting their continuity, and leaving a diaphanous zone - skylight which allowed the visual continuity of the ceiling, as well as its indirect lighting. |
