| 2007 This is an exploratory design for the use of a property for vacation residence. The site is in the hinterland of the Corinthian plain with unusually oblong proportions (11 m. x 130 m.). The design study belongs within the framework of quests which explore the production of housing units through alternations of a basic repeated geometry. In order to avoid the repetitive form of a unitary type of residence on the usual models of typology of 'maisonettes', the 'Γ' shape has been adopted as a causative formation for the production of a zig-zag building mass on the narrow oblong site. Two related types of residence have been developed; the differences between them lie in the way in which they are arranged in relation to the 'public space' and the relative position of their entrance. The first type presents a unified front to the road and opens up its shape inwards, whereas the other type opens towards the public space and the road, respectively. In spite of their small size (~ 50 m2) they provide a variety of spatial alternations in their interior. |
