2002 - This is a space for a passing public in a mountainous environment. The monolithic building, in the form of a visual funnel, was to be constructed in exposed concrete. It stands at the end of the open-air downhill route which starts out from the parking lot which is at the highest point of the slope. Its triangular outline resulted from observing the obligatory lateral distances of the site. Its spatial qualities were integrated with the roof forming an opposing fold in an attempt to remodel the geometry of the rocky landscape. In surroundings which in the winter months are covered with snow, the relation between the building and the landscape seeks the latter's disappearance. The entrances to the building are revealed as wedges in its body, with the visitor taking part in the different spatial tensions and the opening on to the landscape, in the 'periscope' - building. |
