2007 - 2011 The building stands on a small corner site in the Gazi district of Athens. Its programme includes a shop on the raised ground floor and three residences. Within the tight building and planning restrictions of the area, a dynamic treatment of the masses was proposed. The form of the corner building was dictated by the transposition of the building's masses and their intersection, as described by the vertical levels of the balconies and intensified by the adjustable sun-protection panels sited on the edge of the balconies. In a similar way, two small two-storey apartments on the first and second floors interweave their interiors, thus forming a helix in the space, while a third and larger apartment is laid out on the two last floors and the roof. The work was undertaken on behalf of the CF Company. Photographs: Sylvia Diamantopoulou |
